Solo show | Upper James Street London | July 2022

Upper James Street, sits along the edge of Golden Square in Soho—London’s lively and cosmopolitan creative core, home to art, film, music, and progressive culture. The post-COVID-19 landscape gave rise to new possibilities as vacant retail spaces became platforms for artistic expression.

The sleek, street-level space at number 5, allowed the opportunity to fuse art with the everyday rhythm of retail, bars, theatres, and restaurants, inviting the public to engage with Daniel Reynolds work in conversations around creativity, context, and inspiration.

Hailing from Derbyshire England, Daniel Reynolds moved to London in 1999 to pursue his Masters studies at Central St.Martins. Upon graduation from the Fashion Design program with a specialism in Printed Textiles, he became a much-favored designer for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Chloe amongst other leading fashion design houses in London and Paris.

A relocation to NYC in 2008 seen his rise into several Directorships for the country's leading design brands, and consultancies for the likes of Diane von Furstenberg, Gap, The Row, The North Face.

With a return to London for his first major show, Daniel's work suggests that his visual and sensorial experiences of midlands 90's Clubland and British House Music s c e n e s still remain an ominous beat in his new destinations, narratives and emotional structures for this body of work.

Subverting the unsophisticated, he approaches the epic with the common place of crayon, pencil and ink. His textured works often at odds with its bold and jarring counterparts. The monoliths and eruptive forms are too in stark contrast to the seclusion of his up-state Catskills home from where they were created....Daniels home
